Our Story

Shesrig ~ Heritage

Since its inception in 2017, Shesrig Foundation has worked towards strengthening the practice of cultural heritage conservation in the Himalayan region through a multidisciplinary and community-oriented approach. Established as Ladakh's first dedicated art conservation studio, the organisation combines scientific conservation methodologies with traditional knowledge to safeguard tangible cultural heritage. Over the years, Shesrig has collaborated with monasteries, museums, government institutions, and local communities to conserve wall paintings, thangka paintings, manuscripts, archival material, museum collections, and historic structures.

Alongside conservation projects, the organisation actively promotes research, documentation, capacity building, and public awareness to ensure the long-term preservation and appreciation of the region's unique artistic and cultural legacy.
